The Challenge

A 380-key luxury hotel in Singapore underwent a major refurbishment programme — renovating all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities. The existing technology infrastructure was 14 years old and required complete replacement. The hotel's General Manager and Director of IT issued a tender for a single technology infrastructure partner capable of delivering:

IP PBX telephone system for all 380 guest rooms and 120 back-of-house extensions

Digital signage for lobby, conference suites, restaurant, and directional wayfinding

CCTV covering all public areas, car park, back-of-house, and service corridors

Structured cabling backbone for the entire building

Ongoing managed support post-completion

The hotel had previously engaged multiple separate vendors for each technology category — a management overhead that led to integration issues, cost overruns, and accountability gaps. The incoming Director of IT specified a single-vendor approach as a hard requirement.

The Biztech Group Programme

Structured Cabling

Cat6A horizontal cabling to all 380 guest rooms and all public/BOH areas. OM4 fibre backbone between communications rooms on each floor. Panduit system components throughout.

IP PBX (Cisco CUCM)

Cisco CUCM deployed on virtualised on-premise infrastructure. 380 guest room phones, 120 staff extensions, 8 conference room video phones. PMS integration with Opera Property Management System.

CCTV System

164 × 4MP IP cameras across all public areas, car park, service corridors, and BOH. 60-day NVR retention. VMS integration with the hotel's existing security operations system.

Digital Signage

42 commercial displays across lobby (large-format 75" portrait panels), conference suite directories, restaurant menu boards, and elevator lobbies. Cloud CMS with event-driven content scheduling integrated with the hotel's event management system.

Integration: The Advantage of a Single Vendor

The single-vendor approach delivered tangible integration advantages that a multi-vendor programme would have been unable to achieve:

PBX + PMS Integration

Room check-in and check-out in Opera PMS automatically activates and deactivates guest room phone lines. Wake-up calls configured by guest services are routed through the Cisco CUCM system without manual intervention.

Digital Signage + Events System Integration

Conference suite directional displays automatically update with the day's event schedule, room assignments, and branding from the hotel's event management system — no manual CMS update required.

Unified Post-Deployment Support

All four technology systems are maintained under a single Biztech managed services agreement — one contact, one SLA, one invoice. The hotel's Director of IT reports that this has reduced the time spent on vendor coordination from approximately 6 hours per week to under 30 minutes.
