The Challenge
A Singapore-headquartered regional logistics group with warehouse operations across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines was operating 14 separate, unintegrated CCTV systems — each installed by a different local vendor, running different NVR brands, with different retention periods, and with no common management platform.
The business consequences were significant. A cargo theft incident at their Indonesia site took 11 days to investigate because footage had to be physically retrieved on-site, the NVR had only 14 days of retention, and the footage quality was insufficient for positive identification. The group's insurance underwriter subsequently required a minimum specification upgrade across all sites as a condition of policy renewal.
The Head of Group Operations engaged Biztech Group to design and deploy a unified, enterprise-grade security infrastructure that could be managed centrally from Singapore.
The Solution
Biztech Group delivered a three-component programme:
1. Unified IP Camera Infrastructure
420 × 4MP fixed IP cameras and 68 × PTZ cameras were deployed across all 14 warehouses, standardised on a single manufacturer platform for unified firmware management. All cameras were rated for warehouse environments — IP66 dust/moisture protection, IR illumination for 24-hour operation, and wide dynamic range for loading dock environments with mixed natural/artificial lighting.
2. Centralised VMS with Remote Access
Each country site operates a local NVR cluster with 45-day retention. A centralised Video Management System (VMS) connects all 14 sites through the client's MPLS WAN, enabling the Singapore operations team to view live feeds, retrieve historical footage, and receive health alerts for any camera or NVR across the entire estate from a single console.
3. Biometric Access Control at All Entry Points
Fingerprint and card readers were deployed at all primary and secondary entry points across each warehouse, replacing mechanical key locks. Access privileges are managed from a centralised controller — when staff are onboarded or offboarded, access rights are updated across all sites simultaneously. Entry/exit logs are retained for 90 days with tamper-evident storage.
Programme Execution
The 18-week programme followed a Singapore-first pilot model:
Singapore pilot — design, installation, VMS configuration, client UAT and sign-off. Documentation of lessons learned applied to subsequent countries.
Malaysia and Thailand simultaneous deployment — two Biztech teams operating in parallel. Hardware pre-staged and pre-configured in Singapore prior to shipment.
Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines — additional 3 weeks buffer allocated for Indonesia customs clearance and SDPPI certification. Buffer consumed as anticipated; all three countries completed within window.
WAN integration, centralised VMS commissioning, regional operations team training, handover documentation.
Results
11 days
→ 4 hours
Investigation time for security incidents
14 days
→ 45 days
Footage retention (minimum)
1 console
Central management across 6 countries from Singapore HQ
Insurance renewal was completed without the expected premium uplift. The client's underwriter accepted the new system specification and centralised management capability as satisfying their security upgrade requirement in full.
